October 10, 1930 - February 5, 2019

   Donald G. Botjer, 88, of rural Deshler, Ohio passed away Tuesday morning, February 5, 2019 at Vancrest of Holgate.
   He was born October 10, 1930 in Bartlow Township, Henry County, Ohio to the late Geard and Emma (Buchholz) Botjer.  On May 4, 1952 he married Mary Ann Rosebrock at St. John Lutheran Church, Freedom Township and she preceded him in death on May 19, 2000.
   Don served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army.  He was lifetime farmer and also worked for S & B Construction, Hamler and was a part-time truck driver for Buchholz Behrman Elevator, Hamler.
   He was faithful lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hamler where he served as trustee and was the cemetery caretaker.  He was also a member of Warren L. McIntire American Legion Post #262, Hamler.
   Donald enjoyed taking trips to Pennsylvania to deer hunt and was always happy when there was polka music or dances.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
   He is survived by his children, Denise Eckel, Perrysburg, Ohio; Darrell (Tina) Botjer, Deshler; Danette (Jim) Rosebrock, Napoleon; 5 grandchildren, Nathan (Katie) Eckel; Nolan (Courtney) Eckel; Nicklaus (Rachel) Eckel; Ben (Kaylee) Botjer; Zach (Charese) Botjer; 2 step grandchildren, Matt Rosebrock; Darla (Todd) Knipp; 9 great grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren; sisters, Irene (Harold) Cordes, Napoleon and Betty Heiny, Toledo, Ohio; and special friend, Barbara Kemp, Pettisville, Ohio.
   He was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jim Eckel and brothers, Norman Botjer and Richard Botjer.
   Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hamler with Rev. Douglas DeWitt officiating.  Graveside military honors will follow in the church cemetery.
   Visitation is 2-8 p.m. on Friday at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler and 10-11 a.m. on Saturday prior to the services at church.
   The family suggests memorials to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Donor's Choice.
