Donald "Don" Hogrefe Obituary

Donald "Don" Hogrefe
August 12, 1934 - March 29, 2019

Donald “Don” Martin Hogrefe, 84, of Deshler, Ohio passed away Friday morning, March 29, 2019 at his residence.
He was born August 12, 1934 in Deshler to the late Arnold and Esther (Schultz) Hogrefe.  On September 8, 1957 he married Carmen Imbrock at St. John Lutheran Church and they have shared over 61 years together.
Don was a 1953 graduate of Deshler High School and he served his country in the U.S. Army.  At the young age of 15 he began working along side his father as a mason.  Once his father retired, he worked for the Mel Lanzer Company, Napoleon and then in 1972 he started his own business, Don Hogrefe Construction in Deshler.  Don passed his legacy on to the second generation of his family in 1999 and it still operates today.
He was a faithful and active member of St. John Lutheran Church, Deshler.  In addition he was a member of the Bavarian Club and past member of the Deshler Sportsman Club.  He was a lifetime booster and past president of the Patrick Henry Athletic Boosters and past president of the Deshler Chamber of Commerce.
Don always enjoyed sports.  He particularly liked Cleveland sports teams, especially the Indians.  He was a constant supporter and fan of Patrick Henry sports teams, never missing an opportunity when his grandchildren were participating.
Together with his wife, Carmen, built a beautiful family of faith and love.  He always looked forward to his winter trips to Cape Coral, Florida to vacation and visit family.  His family appreciated his generous nature and ability to keep things light with his good sense of humor and joking nature.  He will be forever cherished as a loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother.
He is survived by his wife, Carmen; children, Dennis (Dawn) Hogrefe; Faye (Kent) Badenhop; Doug (Lori) Hogrefe; Hope (Dave) Yarnell; grandchildren, Bryce Hogrefe; Collin Hogrefe; Cory (Lindsey) Badenhop; Haley Badenhop; Blake Badenhop; Mia Badenhop; Logan Hogrefe; Noah Hogrefe; Eric (Karly) Yarnell; Krista Yarnell; great grandchildren, Hayden, Finley, and Olive Badenhop; Eli and Emersyn Yarnell; brothers, Clarence Hogrefe; Franklin (Marylnn) Hogrefe; Alfred “Pete” (Nancy) Hogrefe; Arnold (Lois) Hogrefe; sisters, Lorna (Vernon) Fintel; Ruth Ann (Ervin) Zeltner and Dolores Thomas.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Raymond, Richard and James “Jimmy” Hogrefe.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church, Deshler with Rev. James Wenger officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery and a luncheon will follow at the church.
Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. on Monday at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler and 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.
