Gary "Spike" Cass
August 28, 1949 - December 21, 2018
Gary "Spike" Cass, 69, of Custar, Ohio passed away Friday, December 21, 2018 with his wife and children by his side.
He was born August 28, 1949 in McComb, Ohio to the late Victor and Rita (Metzger) Cass. On June 2, 1997 he married Mishelle (Bush) Cass in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Spike was a Bowling Green High School graduate and honorably served his country during the Vietnam War with the U.S. Army.
He worked as a surveyor with the Poggemeyer Design Group, Bowling Green and previously with the former Askins & Mercer Survey Company. He was a lifetime member member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Custar.
Spike was very active and a life member with the Custar American Legion Post #305; AMVETS Post #711, Bowling Green and VFW Post #1148, Bowling Green. He served for several years with the Wood County Honor Guard, was Quartermaster of the VFW and a trustee at the AMVETS.
In his spare time, Spike enjoyed golfing, watching the Oklahoma Sooners and college football, and making sure he was having a good time with his family and friends.
He is survived by is wife, Mishelle; children, Kendall (Dan) Haas; Erika (Rick) Johnson; Brian Bush; sister, Vickie Ann (Larry) Askins; brothers, Loren (Sheree) Cass; Tom (Karen) Cass and his faithful mini-doxi, Wyatt.
Per Spike's wishes for no formal funeral services, a Celebration of Spike's Life will be held from 2-6 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, at the Custar American Legion Hall. The family requests for you join them for food and refrshements and to please dress casual. Military Honors will be accorded at 2:30 p.m. by the Wood County Honor Guard.
