Heidi R. Wilhelm
August 15, 1975 - July 21, 2019
Heidi Renee Wilhelm, 43, of Maumee, Ohio and formerly of Deshler, Ohio passed away Sunday evening, July 21, 2019 at 7:55 p.m. at St. Luke's Hospital, Maumee, Ohio after a lengthy illness. She was welcomed home in heaven by her mother, Linda who passed away shortly before her at 5:29 p.m.
She was born August 15, 1975 in Bowling Green, Ohio to William "Bill" and Linda (Diem) Wilhelm.
Heidi was a 1993 graduate of Patrick Henry High School. She would further her education at BGSU where she would received a bachelors degree in Sports Management and then her Master's Degree in Counseling. Throughout her time at BGSU she dedicated herself and worked within the Athletic Department. She spent countless hours helping out the football program and offered her tutoring services to the athletes. She remained a lifelong sports fan, always rooting for her alma mater, the BGSU Falcons, but also the Ohio State Buckeyes and Detroit Tigers. She even accomplished running a 1/2 marathon in New York City. She enjoyed traveling, often finding the sunny destinations. She always enjoyed flowers and planting them annuallly for her home and patio.
Heidi worked most recently for Medical Mutual of Ohio as a sales representative and previously for Huntington Insurance.
Heidi is survived by her father, Bill; sister, Holly (Greg) Smith, Florence, Kentucky; brother, Ryan (Rebecca) Wilhelm, Deshler; 5 nephews, Austin, Dylan and Griffin Smith and Wyatt and Cooper Wilhelm; 3 uncles, Ronald (Pok Sun "Lee") Diem, Deshler; Dennis (Kathryn) Diem, Deshler; Roger Diem, Deshler and several loving cousins and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Walter and Ernestine Wilhelm; Lawrence and Kathryn Diem; aunt, Judy Wink; uncle, Richard Diem, and her adored faithful canine companions, Scotchie and Carmel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held alongside her mother, Linda at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Custar, Ohio with Fr. Walter Tuscano officiating. They will be buried next to each other at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Thursday at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at the church.
The family suggests memorials to the BGSU Athletic Department.
