Robert Foltz Obituary

Robert "Bob" Foltz

Robert E. “Bob” Foltz, age 69, passed in peace on Sunday, November 18, 2018 surrounded by  his family.

Born October 12, 1949 in Findlay, Ohio he graduated from Deshler High School in 1968 prior to  serving his country in The United States Air Force.   Bob married Martha Tansey on April 2, 1977.  They are the proud parents of Robb, Jen and  Chris and have been blessed with the craziest, but most beloved group of grandchildren.

Not one for sitting still, Bob found pleasure in holding many different positions during his  working career, typically several at a time - It’s possible if you work in Northwest Ohio - you  have worked with Bob. In addition to serving his country, Bob has spent time in his life as a  livestock & crop farmer, cross-country truck driver, ODOT stockroom clerk for District #2, in the  produce department at Meijer,  stocking inventory and assisting customers at Menards, was a  member of the Deshler Police Department and an EMT to name just a few.   As an Advanced EMT, he worked tirelessly to save lives and provide both comfort and comedy  while holding positions for HANCO, Medcorp, Putnam and Henry County EMS, and the Mobile  Intensive Care Unit at St. Vincent’s.

His favorite of all jobs though, was the one that allowed him to keep the spirit of Christmas  alive for the last 44 holiday seasons taking on the role of Santa. Bob took great pleasure in the  joy and delight he brought to the kids and families each year.  Bob loved spending time with his grandkids.  Whether it was catching their games, teaching  them how to take care of the farm, dancing on the front porch or even “helping” put them  down for naps (evidenced by many pictures) -  spending time with his family was always  important.  He also enjoyed sharing jokes (he had an endless supply), setting up occasional  pranks ( followed by his contagious laughter)  telling stories, swimming, catching “big” fish and  of course watching his Westerns…all the time.

Bob is survived by his wife Martha Tansey Foltz, his children Robb (Mary Beth) Foltz, Jeannette  (Keith) Foltz, Chris (Tasha) Foltz and his grandchildren Brody, Kadin, Cage, Parker, Aaliyah,  Sophia, Cobie, KyCinn, KaCee and Logan Guy as well as his siblings Sandra (Bill) Shaffer,  JoAnn (Phil) Rogers, Ray (Marleen) Marvin, Richard (Sandi) Shaffer, Jill Stanfield, Ruby Brown,  Kitty Parker, Amos Carl Nye, Thomas L (“Mick”) Nye, Bonnie Nye, Patty Nye, James (Mary)  Tansey, Nelson (Dianne) Tansey, Teresa (Reid) Caldwell, Martin (Suzanne) Tansey and many  nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents David and Betty (Rhoad) Foltz and brothers Jerry  Stanfield, Tim Brown and John David (JD) Parker, anything he ever cooked and the his beloved  Cleveland Browns.

At his request, the family will be holding a Celebration of Life at Ottawa VFW Hall, 212 West 2nd Street, Ottawa, Ohio on December  1, 2018 starting at 4pm - 10pm.
