Arnold E. Sickmiller
September 10, 1940 - April 17, 2022
Arnold Eugene Sickmiller, 81, of Custar, Ohio passed away Sunday morning, April 17, 2022 with his family by his side.
He was born September 10, 1940 in Napoleon, Ohio to the late Lester and Leota (Rettig) Sickmiller. On January 21, 1993 he married Debbie (VanScoder) Sickmiller and they have shared over 29 years together.
Arnie graduated from Malinta-Grelton High School and then served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Arnie owned his own business, B & A Resurfacing. He spent years resurfacing and refinishing hardwood floors and bowling alley lanes. He traveled extensively throughout Ohio, Michigan, Indiana and Kentucky. He was also the owner of the former West End Lanes in Napoleon, Ohio.
He was a member of Custar United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #539, North Baltimore, Ohio; VFW Post 1148, Bowling Green, Ohio and AMVETS Post 1991, Defiance, Ohio. Together with his wife Debbie, they were members of the Tuesday Night Crawlers Car Club and took their 1947 Oldsmobile to cruise-ins and car shows.
In is spare time, Arnie enjoyed woodworking, traveling, fishing, golfing, bowling and golf cart rides with his faithful dog, Ripley. Most important was spending time with his family and friends and watching Scooby Doo with his granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie; son, Mark Sickmiller (Mindy Caplinger); daughter-in-law, Teresa Sickmiller; grandchildren, Paige (Xavier) Sickmiller; Brandon (Jazlyn) Sickmiller; Hannah Sickmiller; Bailee (Zane) Sickmiller; Erica Sickmiller; Tyler Sickmiller; Olivia Sickmiller; sisters, Sharon Cahill; Clara Eitzman; Martha Crocker; brother, Eldon (Becky) Sickmiller; his faithful canine companion, Ripley; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Scott Sickmiller; sisters, Lois Marie Sickmiller; Shirley Sickmiller; and brothers, Edwin and Jim Sickmiller.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler with Pastor Gary Yarbrough officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow at New Maplewood Cemetery, North Baltimore.
Visitation will be from 2-4 & 5-8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
