Erika D. Cordes, 95 of Deshler, Ohio passed away Thursday morning, June 25, 2020 at Wood County Hospital, Bowling Green, Ohio. 

She was born October 21, 1924 in Poughkeepsie, New York to the late Otto and Dora (Vorwerk) Kuesel.  On January 7, 1945 she married Delbert Cordes and they shared over 63 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on October 1, 2008.

Erika was a devoted homemaker and farm wife.  She took great pride in her home and family, always a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She was a lifetime member of St. John Lutheran Church, Deshler where she was active in the Woman of the church as president and secretary; the Ladies Quilting Group and Sunday School Teacher.  She was a member of Deshler American Legion Post #316 Auxiliary and the Richfield Township Election Board.

Erika is survived by daughters, Linda Ross and Arlene (Chris) Heiny; daughter-in-law, Sandy Cordes; grandchildren:  Jennifer (James) LaPointe; Travis (Emily) Cordes; C.J. Heiny; Angie (Sean) McCluskey; Jill (Tony) Fouts; Patrick Cordes; great grandchildren: Breanna; Phoenix; Olivia; Tage; Jaxon; Jemma; Case; Carver; sisters-in-law: Doris Kuesel; Norma Kuesel and Lila Cordes.

She was also preceded in death by son, Larry; infant sons, Robert and Brian; son-in-law, Bill Ross; and  brothers, William and Otto Kuesel.

Friends are invited to visit the family from 11:30-1:00 p.m. on Sunday at St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery, Deshler.  Social distance practices will be observed and masks are encouraged. 

Funeral services will be private for the family at St. John Lutheran Church, Deshler with Rev. James Wenger officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family suggests memorials to St. John Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or Henry County South Joint Ambulance District (Deshler EMS).
