Freddy J. Martin

Freddy Joseph Martin, 71, of Deshler, Ohio passed away on Tuesday morning, May 5, 2020 at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay, Ohio.
He was born on February 2, 1949 in Findlay; the only child to loving parents, Harry and Emily (Pieracini) Martin.
He is survived by his devoted mother, Emily; his loving friends and caretakers, David and Janice Seemann and their children, Kevin and Kris Seemann; Kirk and Carla Seemann; Kent and Jill Seemann; other special friends, Ronald and Judy Maas and their children, Dean and Kristine Maas; Jackie and Jon Bower; Steve Maas and many other community friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Martin; uncle, Carl Pieracini; grandparents, O.C. and Mary Martin and Fred and Sylvia Pieracini.
Freddy graduated from Deshler High School in 1969. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Deshler where he was baptized, confirmed and faithfully attended his entire lifetime. He was also a member of the Bavarian Club, Deshler.
His family owned the former Martin’s Confectionary on Main Street in Deshler. This was a family business since 1926; first known as Pieracini's Confectionary. Freddy worked at the popular meeting place in town from the time he graduated until it closed in 1984. He could also be found working at the Deshler Ballpark Concession Stand or following the Patrick Henry Patriots Sporting Events. Along with his family, he enjoyed raising horses, riding motor scooters and taking annual vacations to Myrtle Beach.
Freddy will be remembered as a kind and gentle person who genuinely cared for others. He was popular in the Deshler community and he will be remembered fondly for his vast collection of travel size soap bars, for watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy or his famous catchphrase of “Who’s That”.
A Memorial Mass for Freddy will be held and announced at a later date. He will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler.
