Janis R. Kline
March 12, 1939 - May 13, 2022
Janis Rae Kline, 83, of Hamler, Ohio passed away Friday, May 13, 2022 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio.
She was born March 12, 1939 in Hamler to the late Truman and Carrie (Plotts) Sausser. She was a 1957 graduate of Hamler High School. On June 29, 1958 she married Ted Kline in Napoleon, Ohio and he preceded her in death on October 6, 2002.
Janis was very visible in her community her entire life. She worked alongside her mother and they owned and operated the former Hamler Dairy Bar from 1968-1974. She also worked on and off at the former Bishop's Meat Locker. Where she was most important was working at her son's bar, Kline's Kold Keg. They considered her the "backbone" of the business and her friendly smile and service was welcomed by all the patrons.
She was a member of Holgate United Methodist Church; Hamler Wide-A-Wake Club; Friends of the Hamler Library and the Patrick Henry Athletic Boosters.
Janis loved baseball and always found time to watch a game at Patrick Henry. She faithfully followed her sons and grandsons playing days, and even kept watching when she knew fewer players. If she wasn't watching a local game, she was home following her favorite team, the Chicago Cubs. Above it all, her best role was that of a grandmother. She cared for all of her grandchildren and followed them through all their endeavours, always with a proud smile on her face.
She is survived by her sons, Rick (Joan) Kline; Bruce Kline; 5 grandchildren, Brian (Michelle) Kline; Kevin (Maddie) Kline; Allison Kline (Austin Geckle); Erica Kline; Megan Kline (Joey Velasquez); 2 great grandchildren, Alayah and Gracie; and brother, Larry (Cheryl) Sausser.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, Marijean Cannaley.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Holgate United Methodist Church, Holgate with Rev. Diane Simon officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, Napoleon.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. on Monday at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler and from 10-11 a.m., Tuesday at the church.
