Joanne Bremer
October 15, 1948 – February 13, 2020
Joanne Bremer, 71, of Deshler, Ohio passed away Thursday morning, February 13, 2020 at The Heritage of Findlay, Ohio.
She was born October 15, 1948 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Wilbur and Mabel (Kistner) Wade. She was the youngest of three daughters and she became very close to her mother. This mother and daughter bond remained tight throughout her adult life.
Joanne was a Deshler High School graduate. While in school she worked as a lifeguard at the Deshler Pool. Here she would catch the eye of a young man and they would become high school sweethearts and life partners. On August 29, 1969 she married Dennis Bremer and they would become “attached at the hip” and spend a lifetime together. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2019 and on Wednesday afternoon, February 19th, Denny reunited with her in heaven.
She furthered her education by attending BGSU and majored in Education. She would graduate and begin teaching Health and Physical Education at Glouster High School, Lake High School and Patrick Henry Schools. While at Patrick Henry High School she also was an assistant Athletic Director. Jo was also a published author of romance novels. She wrote for Dell and Harlequin publishing. She wrote in collaboration with her friend and neighbor and also wrote separately under her own pen name.
She was a very enthusiastic hockey fan and when the Columbus Blue Jackets originated, she became an even bigger fan and season ticket holder. Her and Dennis would travel to Columbus for long weekends and met many new friends through their love of hockey. When at home, she enjoyed canning tomatoes and making homemade salsa.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Deshler.
Joanne will be remembered as a faithful wife, devoted mother, adoring grandmother and loving sister and friend. Her family and friends were the center point of Jo’s life. As a family, they would travel and take many vacations together all across this beautiful country. Her daughters will forever remember her commitment to bedtime stories.
She is survived by her daughters, Nicki (Brian) Strunk, Findlay; Chris Bremer, Findlay; grandsons, Sawyer and Sean Strunk; and sister, Connie Pelton, Salem, Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her oldest sister, Linda Armstrong Harmon.
Companion funeral services for Denny and Jo will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Deshler with Pastor David Hendricks and Pastor Meg Boger officiating. They will be buried next to eachother at Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. prior to the services at the church.
