John F. Drewes
January 4, 1960 – October 18, 2022
John Fredrick Drewes, 62, of Hamler, Ohio passed away early Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at his residence with his loving wife by his side.
He was born January 4, 1960 in Napoleon, Ohio to the late Waldo “Pete” and Dorothy (Gerken) Drewes. On November 2, 1991 he married Cynthia “Cindy” Kuesel at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hamler.
John was a 1978 graduate of Patrick Henry High School and he worked for over 38 years at the Campbell Soup Company, Napoleon. He retired in 2017 from the Utilities Department where he held licenses in water distribution and waste water. He always had a very strong work ethic and would never miss a day and often dedicated himself all 7 days of the week. This habit of hard work never got in the way of his love for his family and friends. If he wasn’t committed to the 9 to 5, he was always available to help anyone that needed it.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hamler where he held various church offices over the years. He enjoyed many vacations and adventures to warm climates. He often searched for the “all-inclusives” and cruises. Alongside his best friend and wife, Cindy, they made countless memories with each other, their family and their friends. He will be remembered for his caring heart and the fun and laughter he shared.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy; brother, James “Jim” (Lori) Drewes, Napoleon; sister, Julie (Pate) Summers, Spartanburg, South Carolina; many nieces and nephews that he adored and countless friends he enjoyed.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 24, 2022 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hamler with Rev. James Fundum officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow the services in the church fellowship hall. Graveside services will follow the luncheon at Grelton Cemetery, Grelton, Ohio.
Visitation will be from 1-6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022 at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler and from 10-11 a.m., Monday at the church.
The family suggests memorials to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
