 John H. Norden

   John Henry Norden, 82, of Deshler, Ohio passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay, Ohio.
   He was born on November 7, 1937 on a kitchen table in his family's farmhouse in rural Deshler.  His parents were Edgar and Anna (Koehnke) Norden.
   John was a 1955 graduate of Deshler High School and attended Findlay College and technical college for electronics.
   On July 30, 1960 he married Margaret "Peggy" Holder at First Lutheran Church, Findlay.  Early in their marriage, John worked at Cooper Tire Company, Findlay as a tire tester.  
   John and Peggy then moved back to Deshler where John started working alongside his father full time.  Together they owned and operated Norden & Norden Painting and started Norden Decorating Center on Main Street, Deshler.  This family business is currently in its 3rd generation.   
   John was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Deshler and served the church in numerous capacities over the years.  He was a member of the Deshler Lions Club, 50 year member of F & A.M. Masonic Lodge #520, Deshler and an original member of Patrick Henry Athletic Boosters.  After his father-in-law taught him to read music in his thirties, John enjoyed over 40 years of playing the bass drum in the Deshler Community Band.
   He will be remembered for having a great sense of humor and being genuinely fun to work alongside.  He enjoyed feeding birds, fishing, gardening, cooking and making homemade wine.  He was an avid golfer and traveled across Ohio and several states to play famous courses.  Along with his wife, they never missed a child's or grandchild's event.    
   He is survived by his wife of over 59 years, Peggy; children, Jeffrey (Vanessa) Norden; Timothy (Leslie) Norden; Cathrine (Paul) Proudfoot, II; grandchildren, Jon (Emily) Norden; Sean Norden; Paul Proudfoot, III; Lauren Norden; great granddaughter, Avery Norden and sister, Janet Volkman.
   Private graveside services will be held for the family at St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery, Deshler, Ohio with Rev. James Wenger officiating.
