Paul Burner Obituary

Paul E. Burner
October 19, 1932 - May 22, 2021

Paul Eugene Burner, 88, of Deshler, Ohio passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021 at his residence.
He was born October 19, 1932 in Leipsic, Ohio to the late Clarence "Bus" and Willetta (Kneller) Burner.  On June 28, 1958 he married Glennadine (Meyer) Burner at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Deshler and she preceded him in death on May 19, 2017.
Paul was a 1950 graduate of Deshler High School and was drafted by the St. Louis Browns baseball team out of high school.  After a brief time in the minors, he would leave baseball and serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  After his military service he returned home and worked at the former Koppenhofer Bros./IMCO Poultry as a route supervisor and driver.  He would eventually leave that job to become the Superintendent of Maintenance for the Village of Deshler and worked for over 23 years for his community.
Paul was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Deshler; the Deshler American Legion Post #316; the Bavarian Club and the Patrick Henry Athletic Boosters.  He enjoyed following the local sports programs and was often seen in the stands at many Patrick Henry events.
He will be remembered for his garden that he put out each year; listening to Polka and country western music; making paper airplanes or riding his bicycle about town.  His family will forever cherish the unconditional love and support  as he and his late wife, Glennadine dedicated themselves to their family.
He is survived by his children, Debra Kay (Mark) Westrick, New Bavaria, Ohio; Deborah Sue (Randall) Nation, Napoleon, Ohio; David (Lynette) Burner, Toledo, Ohio; Darin Burner, Findlay, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Winfield Meyer, Winterhaven, Florida; Edwin (Jill) Meyer, Jr., Colorado Springs, Colorado and John Damman, Napoleon, Ohio.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Dion K. "Bob" Burner and sister-in-law, Phyllis Damman.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Deshler with Rev. Chris Walter and Paul's grandson, Nick Burner officiating.  Graveside services with military honors will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler and from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
The family suggests memorials to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Bridge Hospice.
