Ramona Gordon Obituary

Ramona A. Gordon

November 17, 1933 – January 29, 2021

Ramona Ann Gordon, 87, of Findlay, Ohio passed away Friday, January 29, 2021 at the Christian Village at Mason, Ohio.

She was born November 17, 1933 in Deshler, Ohio to the late Ralph and Helena (Gilgenbaugh) Breece.  On May 25, 1957 she married Walter Gordon and they have shared over 63 years together.

Ramona graduated from Deshler High School in 1951, and she cherished her time in the school marching band.  As head majorette, she led the award-winning band as they marched in parades and at county fairs all across Northwest Ohio.  Her favorite member of the band was a handsome trumpet player named Walter, the love of her life and her devoted husband.

Ramona was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Findlay, Ohio, and she volunteered at St. Michael’s School for many years while her children were young, helping on the playground and wherever needed.  She was also a devoted group leader for the Camp Fire Girls for over 10 years.

She worked at JCPenney in Findlay for 17 years, and was well-known for her drapery and home furnishings expertise.  Her creativity and hard-working ethics carried over to her home life as well, where she enjoyed crocheting and sewing, which included making many costumes for the Findlay High School musicals.  Ramona was a wonderful cook, and her delicious home-made pies were her specialty.  She spent her life loving, caring for, and feeding others.  Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy.

She is survived by her loving husband, Walter; children, Laura (Kent) Jackson, Lexington, Kentucky; John (Sue) Gordon, Cincinnati, Ohio; Joyce (Scott) McBride, Bucyrus, Ohio; Grandchildren; Alyse McBride, Christy McBride, Matthew McBride, Gina (Tony) Neumann, Claire (James) DeGraw, Ellen (Anthony Steffen) Gordon, Amy (Nelson) Wong, Gregory (Michelle) Jackson, Mark (Kristen Grzywacz) Jackson, Julie Jackson; four great grandchildren (and one on the way); sister-in-laws, DeeDee Breece, and Sr. Madelyn Marie Gordon, and brother-in-law Donald Gordon.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Rebecca “Becky” Straley (Grant), and brothers, Louis “Louie” Breece; and Bernard “Ben” Breece (Midge)
