April 1, 1936 – July 4, 2020

 

Shirley Marie Johnson, 84, of Deshler, Ohio passed away Saturday, July 4, 2020; on her only brother’s birthday.

She was born April 1, 1936 in Malinta, Ohio to the late Wayne and Erma (Gingrich) Reed.  On May 23, 1970 she married Danial “Hawk” Johnson and he preceded her in death on August 3, 1996.

Shirley worked at the former Sherwin-Williams/Deshler Products; Scarborough Pharmacy and along with her husband, Hawk; they owned and operated the former Family Affair Restaurant on Main Street of Deshler for several years.  She was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Deshler and the Order of the Eastern Star Sycamore Lodge #520, Deshler.

Shirley was a true friend and shared her life with many people.  She enjoyed her time with others, whether it was playing cards, drinking wine and attending wine festivals, or taking cruises and traveling throughout the world.  She enjoyed reading in her spare time, but she enjoyed nothing more than her family and especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving children, Deb (Jim) Sharp, Florida, Ohio; Karen (Lew) Bechtol, Florida, Ohio; Laurie (Mark) Fletcher, Carey, Ohio; Ed Johnson, Deshler, Ohio; Lisa (Rod) Crouch, McClure, Ohio; Eric (Lindsay) Johnson, Cygnet, Ohio; 16 cherished grandchildren, Julie (Brad) Wilkerson, Jill (Matt) Thorpe, Jim Sharp, Christopher (Cara) Diem, Michael (Tiffany) Diem, Tiffany (Jathan) Saltzman, Danielle (Jeremy) Gibson, Austin (Krystyna) Fletcher, Taylor Fletcher, Kaitlyn Johnson, Trent Crouch, Haley Crouch, Derek Crouch, Aubrey Johnson, Ethan Johnson, Logan Johnson and 18 adored great grandchildren, Scott Wilkerson, Payton Wilkerson, Allison Thorpe, Sarah Thorpe, Kendall Diem, Hunter Diem, Breckin Diem, Peyton Diem, Grayson Diem, Raelynn Diem, Maria Saltzman, Jack Saltzman, D.J. Gibson, Jayden Fletcher, Daymon Fletcher, Casin Fletcher, Colt Fletcher and Archer Fletcher.

She was preceded in death by her only brother, Tom Reed.

Visitation will be held from 2-7 p.m. on Tuesday at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler.  Social distancing guidelines will be observed and masks are requested to be worn.  Private services will be held for the family and she will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler.

Memorials are suggested to Deshler Edwin Wood Memorial Library or Immanuel Lutheran Church.
